TUM Alumna Doris Zoller has always found herself in male-dominated environments. However, for her this is not an issue. As a strategic planner for the Housing Department of the City of Munich, she carries out her duties with seasoned poise. Her time at TUM further honed her knack for networking and her readiness to embrace new ideas.

Data Scientist Nikolaos Kosmas Chlis

„TUM Made Me Believe in Europe”

After completing his master's degree at the Technical University of Crete, Dr. Nikolaos Kosmas Chlis moved to Munich to pursue his Doctorate at TUM. There, he encountered an international community that continues to fill him with hope to this day. He has now registered as the 100,000th Alumnus in the TUM network and received thanks from TUM President Thomas F. Hofmann for this milestone.

Her studies and doctorate in Electrical Engineering awakened TUM Alumna Renate Vachenauer's enthusiasm for cars and electromobility. Today, she is Head of Procurement at AUDI AG. Together with her team, she makes a significant contribution to value creation and the company's transition to electromobility and digitalization.

Triathlete Christian Schiwek

"Hawaii is the dream destination of every triathlete"

Dr. Christian Schiwek has qualified for perhaps the most famous endurance competition in the world: the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. The TUM alumnus trains up to 20 hours a week for this - in addition to his 40-hour job at the pharmaceutical company Roche

Nobel Laureate Johann Deisenhofer

"As a Scientist, You Never Know Everything, But You Are Always Discovering New Things"

In the mid-1960s, Johann Deisenhofer came to TUM as a young student, attracted by the opportunity to attend lectures by Nobel Laureate Robert Mößbauer. His early years of study fundamentally shaped his understanding of physics and the work of scientists. With his subsequent doctorate, he delved deeper into the then-new field of biochemistry. Together with his doctoral advisor and fellow TUM Alumnus Robert Huber, he discovered structures that had never been seen by human eyes before. In 1988, at the age of just 45, Johann Deisenhofer, along with Robert Huber and Hartmut Michel, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

Mechanical Engineering Expert Hans Ingo Weber

“My Career Is Entirely Built on the Fertile Ground of Kurt Magnus' Institute”

A DAAD scholarship led Hans Ingo Weber from Brazil to Munich in 1968 to TUM, where he pursued his PhD under the guidance of renowned professor Kurt Magnus, a pioneer in mechatronics. This period not only shaped his academic career but also led to unforgettable experiences and lasting friendships.

Professor Uchendu Eugene Chigbu

“A Well-Written and Implemented Good Idea Can Improve People's Lives”

TUM Alumni was born in a rural town in Nigeria. Already as a teenager, he was concerned about how rural areas could be developed further and the lives of the local people improved. To learn more about this subject from an international luminary in this field, he went to TUM in Munich for his master's, a doctorate and to be a postdoctoral researcher.
